The problem (blockage) was worse than we thought and he got down and dirty and cut out a big chunk of the piping to show us how bad it was, and it was bad. Why is it every time my husband leaves town, something in our house breaks? This time it was a kitchen sink that was draining far too slowly. After doing everything I knew to fix it, including checking the P-trap to see if it was clogged, I finally called Rock Plumbing. They sent Santiago M. out the same day I called.
He put a probe down the sink to see where the problem was, but it kept getting stuck. On his monitor, I could watch what he was doing and saw what the probe "saw." I already could see what the potential problem was. Our drainage pipe was blocked by an excessive amount of "gunk"/old food debris. We then went to the basement and he had me push against the drainage pipe where he suspected the clog was to feel how heavy it was, and then had me compare it to the weight of a normal-feeling pipe.
He gave me 3 estimates to potentially remedy the problem (from least expensive to most expensive) - snaking, using a high-pressure jet, replacing the clogged section of pipe. He explained in detail the potential difficulties of snaking or using a high-pressure jet and cautioned me to be aware of the added costs of failed attempts to fix the problem. There was no pressure from Santiago to choose the option of replacing the section of clogged pipe, the most expensive option. He even scheduled the repair the following day to give me enough time to check with my husband.
I am so thankful for Santiago! He understood my predicament of having to make a tough choice on my own and gave me all the factual and financial information I needed to explain the situation and reason for choosing the most expensive to my husband.
The job is finished. My kitchen sink drains beautifully. Santiago completed the job in 1.5 hrs - pretty impressive for doing it solo! He showed me the section of pipe he removed and it turned out, there was no way the two lesser priced options would have worked. Santiago's wise counsel saved me almost $900.00!
Never having had to deal with major plumbing issues before, I expected this job might be difficult to understand all the details involved in repairing the problem, and really expensive. Because of his patience in explaining and showing me every step of the process and giving me his expertise with respect to the financial implications of the options, Santiago proved he was a great advocate for the clients he serves.
Rock Plumbing and Santiago have set the bar high and I'm grateful to have been the recipient of the excellent service they gave my husband and me. Santiago M. is an outstanding technician and Rock Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning is fortunate to have him!

Mario came to my house to help me cap off a drain in the basement. He was very friendly and professional. When he came into the house, he covered his shoes and immediately got to work investigating the worksite. He asked knowledgeable questions about the project and why we wanted to cap the drain.

He had a trainee with him, but that certainly didn't diminish the quality of the work or his attention to updating the homeowner - me. After performing stellar work in our home, replacing old galvanized water distribution pipe and several faucets and a shower assembly, Cesar returned to address our high household water pressure (>100 PSI) to protect our indoor plumbing. This required clearing our outside shutoff, digging out the meter yoke assembly hole for access, and installing a PRV (pressure-reducing valve) inside by the main indoor shutoff. Cesar's knowledge of both inside and outside (top and bottom) plumbing systems was evident. He was efficient, courteous, cleaned up and restored the area of the digging, and did an outstanding job for us, twice. Highly recommend!
