Xcel Heat Pump Rebate Program
What's a Heat Pump?
A heat pump provides energy-efficient comfort by heating your home in the winter and cooling it in the summer, all in one unit.
-
Clean and ConvenientA heat pump uses electricity to transfer heat instead of burning gas to generate it, and it also absorbs heat from the air, ground, or water, depending on the type. You can choose between ducted or ductless systems and have the option to hire a contractor or install it yourself. -
2-for-1 ValueUsing a heat pump to both heat and cool your home can be more energy efficient than traditional HVAC systems, enhance comfort, and lower your carbon footprint. Plus, the average life of a heat pump is 15-20 years, similar to traditional systems. -
Limited-Time RebatesWith our bonus rebates and state and federal tax incentives, you could save thousands on the purchase and installation of a heat pump. Find out how much you qualify for by scheduling a project quote.
Types of heat pumps that can be installed by a contractor in our Trade Partner Network to qualify for a rebate include:
- Ducted, Non-Ducted or Mixed Ducted Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP)

How to get a Heat Pump Rebate:
- Are You Eligible?
Residential electric and/or natural gas Xcel Energy customers in Colorado are eligible to receive heat pump rebates. Income-qualified customers may be eligible for additional rebates and services that cover up to the full cost of a heat pump and its installation. Verify eligibility with the Home Energy Squad. - Choose Your Rebate: Professional or DIY Installation
You can choose to have a contractor from our Trade Partner Network handle the installation or install it yourself if you’re opting for a mini-split heat pump. - Install a Heat Pump
Your contractor will determine which heat pump is right for your home and generate a project quote, noting any rebates you qualify for. If you’re opting for a non-ducted or mixed-ducted heat pump (mini-split), you can also choose to install it yourself and still qualify for a rebate. - Submit Application & Receive Rebate
Depending on the installation you choose, your contractor will complete the rebate application for you, or you can submit it online for a DIY installation. You’ll either receive a check, or your contractor will apply the rebates directly to your invoice.
Rebate amounts will vary based on qualifying equipment and cannot exceed installation costs. Invoices and installations must be completed in 2025, but applications for rebates will be accepted through Sept. 30, 2026. - Enjoy Your Comfortable, Efficient Home
The work is over! Experience the comfort and efficiency that comes with using a heat pump to heat and cool your home.
